Williams’ Harvey is the proud sponsor of this popular Duathlon and Iron Kids event held annually in support of Cystic Fibrosis and following on from the success of last year the venue has been moved to the picturesque Frimley Park in Hastings, on Sunday 11 October 2009.
Whilst still a competitive event, the organizers have placed a strong emphasis on family and fun so that the day can be enjoyed by the whole family in a picturesque and safe environment. There is an ‘Ironkid’s’ Duathlon first thing in the morning followed by the adults Duathlon later in the morning. Race organizers are hoping that the new venue will encourage families to come along and make a day of it. They can have a ‘Picnic In the Park’ whilst they compete and all the while supporting the local branch of Cystic Fibrosis and their families.
Cystic Fibrosis is the most common life threatening genetic condition in New Zealand. It is an inherited disorder that affects people in various ways, but most frequently causes recurrent respiratory infections, an inability to digest food and irreversible lung damage. There is no currently known cure and the average life expectancy for a person with Cystic Fibrosis in New Zealand is 29 Years.
Over the past 4 years over $18,500 has been raised and the Williams Harvey’ Corporate Charity Duathlon is the only charity fund raising event that the club holds during the year and they are keen to collect as much money as they can for the local branch of Cystic Fibrosis. Simply by entering money will be donated to the local CF Branch.
